Unfortunately I did a very silly thing earlier this year. I had an external Hard Disk Drive fail on me. This in itself is not silly, but I had a large number of photos on that drive….original photos….photos that I had been way to slack to back up. So, I lost them….forever….and that was a VERY silly thing. I should have known better. I should have had backups, but alas I did not.

Anyway, in that catastrophe I had the images that I had prepared for an Exhibition that I was part of last year. The “Six Spiritual Journeys” exhibition. Anyway, while the originals of many of them are gone forever, I have managed to recover the final photoart prints that I had prepared. And, here they are for you viewing pleasure.

This month I was asked by a client to do a photo shoot with two goals;

  • to take some photos of her daughters for use as Christmas cards, and
  • to take a family portrait.

I had worked with this client last year, when she had asked for a casual portrait with her daughters that she could give to her husband as a present. The result of that shoot was this…

The Girls

So, after sitting down with the client this year, and discussing things, we decided that photos of the girls in white and sometimes with some angel wings, would look lovely for the Christmas cards.

They also decided that they would stay with the look of blue jeans and white T-shirts for their family portraits. In additions, they wanted the portrait to be relaxed and casual, showing them all as they really are, rather than trying to pose everyone. A formal pose would have been especially “interesting” with the two young girls.1 The relaxed approach is much more fun, and has the added bonus of keeping young people in a good mood for longer.

With the brief established, we all headed to a local forest and spent an very enjoyable hour playing and snapping. And, here are some random examples of the results…

  1. I find formal sittings way to stiff for my liking, and I am often amused by the stress levels surrounding shopping centre portraiture, where the kids are screaming and unhappy.[<<]

I have been taking a lot of photos over the last few months. Probably more than I have taken in a long while. The best thing about that is that I am really pleased with how many of them have turned out. They are a little different to what I have done in the past, but I like the new style that I appear to be developing.

Anyway, here is a sample of some of my Spring labour….

This shoot was done way back in December of 2005, but it has taken me basically 12 months to get this site organised the way I like it so that I can start uploading photos easily.

Anyway, here is a sample of the great shoot I had with the lovely Liz.
